The question everyone was asking last Sunday was “which team are you cheering for?”. On Monday it was, “what did you think of the halftime show?” Now the real question is “which commercials do you still remember?”. We’ve all discussed the game and we’ve definitely discussed the halftime show; now it’s time to talk about what we all were really looking forward to last weekend—the commercials. In my opinion, the commercials this year were great but here are my top 5 picks as well as a few honorable mentions:
Reese’s - Take 5
Honestly, there is nothing special about this commercial; it just made me laugh a lot.
Google - Loretta
If you say that this didn’t tug at your heart, you’re lying.
Budweiser - Typical American
I had to do a double-take on this commercial but once I realized the message behind it, it became one of my favorite commercials of the night.
Jeep - “Groundhog Day”
Who doesn’t enjoy Bill Murray?
WeatherTech - Lucky Dog (Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine)
While I personally think the $6 million for this commercial might have been better spent by being donated directly to the Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine or on cheaper ads that could run year-round, I feel like it’s still important to acknowledge this commercial and why WeatherTech paid to air it.
Honorable mentions:
Verizon - The Amazing Things 5G Won’t Do
This is one of the few commercials that caused the room to grow quiet on Sunday as we were all reminded of the heroes in our everyday lives.
Cheetos - MC Hammer
This was definitely weird but funny and rememberable nonetheless.
Amazon/Alexa - #BeforeAlexa
This commercial won a spot on this list whenever the maid threw the log out
